The curtains fell on the  2024/2025 Kenya Cup season at the ASK Showground in Kakamega, where defending champions Kabras RFC edged Menengai Oilers in a nerve-wracking final to seal a historic fourth consecutive title.

With both sides bursting onto the pitch with palpable intensity, the clash lived up to its billing from the very first whistle. Kabras drew first blood through a composed penalty, only for Oilers’ sharpshooter Omela to swiftly level the scores with a kick of his own.

The sugar men then surged ahead with a well-worked try and a successful conversion to take the tally to 10-03. Omela’s precision from the tee kept Oilers within reach before Kabras’ Eric Cantona bulldozed over for another five-pointer, with Dukisa’s boot ensuring a 17-09 halftime advantage for the hosts.

Emerging from the break with renewed ferocity, Kabras extended their dominance as Walter Okoth dived in for another try, converted expertly by Dukisa. Omela kept Oilers in contention with yet another penalty, and a try from Samwel Ovwamu, followed by a conversion, brought the visitors tantalizingly close at 24-19.

Dukisa responded with a critical penalty for Kabras, but a late surge from Oilers saw Elkeans Musonye touchdown under the posts, setting up a thrilling finale. Yet, despite the relentless pressure and a valiant comeback attempt, Oilers fell short by a single point as the scoreboard froze at 27-26.

With the final whistle, Kabras RFC not only defended their crown but etched their name in glory with a monumental four-peat, joining the likes of Nondescripts,Impala and KCB.
