Kabras Sugar will play away to Menengai Cream Homeboyz in the Kenya Cup semis after cruising to a 43-13 home win over Strathmore Leos at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday 10 March.
Philip Wokorach put the hosts ahead with an unconverted try but the Leos responded through Dennis Juma’s converted effort for a short lived 7-5 lead. Kevin Keegan would convert Eliphaz Emong’s try to see the home side lead 12-7 and it was soon 17-7 after Uganda Sevens international Pius Ogena grounded the ball.
The Leos were still in the game, their forays into Kabras territory drawing a penalty that was duly slotted between the sticks by Gideon Makumi but they fell further behind moments later when Felix Ayange went over, Wokorach with the conversion for a 24-10 lead at the interval.
Wokorach then converted Andrew Chogo and Asuman Mugerwa’s tries as Kabras took a commanding 38-10 lead. Hosea Ngesa then landed a try in between Makumi’s penalty to seal the big win for the former Kenya Cup champions.
