Strathmore Leos edged out hosts Resolution Kisii 21-14 at the Gusii Stadium in Saturday’s sole Kenya Cup fixture. This fixture was originally slated for Saturday 9 December 2017 but postponed at Strathmore’s request.
It was, as the score suggests, a closely fought encounter, the visitors racing into a 14-0 lead courtesy of converted tries from John Oduk and Clinton Imbuye before the hosts clawed their way back with John Ochar converting Aggrey Kituyi and Brian Mokua’s tries to see the teams head into the half time interval all square at 14-14.
Oduk would pounce for his brace, and Strathmore’s match winning try after the second half restart, Gideon Makumi with his third successful conversion to secure the win for the students,a result that consolidates their sixth position and final playoff slot on the Kenya Cup log heading into the final two matches of the league phase.
