The quest for qualification to the KRU Championship continues to intensify with the quest for leadership across the five regional leagues continuing to be a close encounter. Wambui Mumbi summarize the leadership battle.
NAIROBI REGION
Ngong RFC are firmly perched atop the league with a pefect seven out of seven wins in the Nairobi region Nationwide league. The team has gathered a total of 34 points followed by the Sportpesa Quins Pinocchios at second place with 25 points from six played matches, winning five and losing one.
MKU Nairobi leads the University sides in Nairobi region with a total of 20 points having played four matches. They are followed closely by Daystar University who sit with 17 points off five matches.

CENTRAL REGION
Kiambu RFC and Embu RFC are tied in the top position in this region with 27 points each. Both have lost only one match out of the seven they have played. MKU Thika comes in the third position with 23 points having played six matches since the league kicked off.

RIFT VALLEY REGION
In their first season of becoming members of Kenya Rugby fraternity, the Menengai Oilers seem to be making a mark in their region. They are leading in the Rift Valley standings with 29 points, followed closely by Eldoret RFC with 26 points. Competition is high between the second, third and fourth teams as third placed Egerton sits with 25 points and Eldoret Falcons have 24 points.

WESTERN
Masinde Muliro University top this region’s standings with 19 points followed by a tie between Kakamega Welfare and Webuye RFC both of whom have 5 points each. Bungoma RFC comes in the fourth place with 3 points and Shieywe RFC close the standings at fifth position.
Maseno University and Citam Kisumu are tied in the first position with 15 points in the Nyanza zone of this league. Maseno however have an upper hand should they keep their winning streak alive as they have only played and won their three matches while Citam have played four and won three. Homabay RFC comes in at third with eight points, Siaya at fourth with one point and lastly Mbale RFC are fifth.

COAST REGION
Technical University of Mombasa is leading the coast region with 20 points winning all their four matches so far. Shoxxs RFC and Spartans RFC are tied with 15 points each as Pwani Sharks come in at fourth place with 5 points off the only match they have participated in.
