Mean Machine will face Lunch Bar Quins in the first semi-final at the Impala Floodlit tournament on Saturday 18 October 2014.
Machine reached this stage with an 11-3 win over Total Nondies last weekend and come into the match against Quins looking to register another result as they look to reach the final and enhance their bid for a 10th overall title.
They were slow off the blocks last weekend, and when they did get into the game, lapses in concentration, especially on attack were glaring. They still did manage to put a try and two penalties on the board whilst denying their opponents a whiff of the try line.
The fixture against Quins will be a different proposition for Paul Okech’s charges and they will need to be on top of their game if they are both a berth in the October 25th final. Kelvin Gacheru and Kelvin Njugi were just some of the standout performers for Eschuma Absolute and will once again be called upon to inspire the rest of the team on Saturday.
Quins set up this date after dispatching of Mwamba courtesy of a 30-13 result last weekend. They showed the ability to take the game a notch higher every time Mwamba came close. Indeed the match was deadlocked at 10-10 after fifty minutes and 13-13 after an hour before Quins, inspired by the impeccable goal kicking and play making ability of Kevin Keegan and William Mawira who landed a brace turned on the style to post the result. Quins can also count on the experience of Patrice Agunda and Dennis Muhanji to lead them to a first final in years.
This match kicks off at 6.00pm.
