Mean Machine beat Total Nondies on Saturday 11 October to reach the Impala Floodies semi final.
Kevin Njugi opened the scoring for Machine with a 5th minute penalty following a Nondies infringement. Nondies would draw level five minutes later from Brian Beckham’s goal attempt from a tight angle as the match remained a sedate affair.
Nondies would take the attacking initiative but were unable to translate this into points despite dominating possession and territory.
Njugi would spend the last ten minutes of the first half in the sin bin and Beckham’s goal attempt from the ensuing penalty bounced off the posts.
Machine would spurn a try scoring opportunity, a handling error right on the Nondies try line taking the sheen off a well worked build up. The teams would head into the breather all square, 3-3 the half time score.
Njugi would extend Machine’s lead with a penalty five minutes into the second half as they gained a stranglehold on the match. Kelvin Gacheru landed the game’s only try on 50 minutes as Machine held on for the full time result, setting up a semifinal date with Lunch Bar Quins.
