Derrick Ashihundu’s four try haul in Kabras Sugar’s 87-0 win over Mwamba in Kenya Cup MD5 action on Saturday 20 January 2024 returns him to the top of the Kenya Cup try scoring charts on 10 tries.

He is followed by team-mate Lameck Ambetsa and Menengai Oilers’ Beldad Ogeta on 7 tries apiece while the KCB trio of  Griffin Musilia, Festus Shiasi and Austin Sikutwa as well as Kabras Sugar’s George Nyambua are on 5 tries each.

Ashihundu also leads the overall points on 50 with team-mate Ntabeni Dukisa second on 48 while KCB’s Austin SIkutwa is third on 38 points. Ogeta and Ambetsa close out the top five on 35 points apiece.

In the KRU Championship, there is no change in the top try scorers as Augustine Owino (Daystar Falcons) and Veron Kaburu ( Masinde Muliro) are tied on 4 tries each with Kenya Sevens sensation Patrick Odongo (Daystar Falcons) and Quinto Ongo (Impala) third on 3 tries.

Ongo leads the overall points on 36 points, followed by Eddy Wambugu of Daystar Falcons on 30 points with Davies Masinga of JKUAT Cougars on 27 points.
