Western Bulls ran KCB’s Lions ragged when the two sides met in Kenya Cup action on Saturday 9 January 2016, the bankers just let off the hook when Bulls fly half Isaac Wafula fluffed a last minute penalty in front of the sticks, that match at the Jamhuri Park ending in a 27-27 draw.
The two sides meet in the return fixture at the Kakamega High School’s Bull Ring, the hosts keen to better their Nairobi performance and claim a first ever Kenya Cup over the Lions ( this has been the season the bankers have suffered first ever league losses to Strathmore & Homeboyz).
The Bulls have blown hot and cold this season, sitting 10th on the log and without a realistic chance of making the playoffs. They will certainly relish playing the spoilers role, casting their eyes on a KCB scalp.
Isaac Wafula, Reinhardt Ashioya, Elkeans Musonye are expected to play leading roles for Echulusi.
The bankers appear to be coming good after series of patchy performances. They travel to Kakamega fully aware that the Bulls are a difficult opponent. They have incidentally never lost in Kakamega and barring complacency, will have that working for them.
Darwin Mukidza will once again be the bankers go to guy with Oliver Mang’eni. Elly Mukaizi, Jimmy Kilonzo and Mickey Wanjala all expected to play cameo roles as the bankers look to win on the road and consolidate second place.
