The Daystar Falcons will close out the calendar year on top of the second tier KRU Championship after defeating Mean Machine 50-5 in match day three action at the Daystar University ground in Athi River, Machakos County on Saturday.
The Falcons who led 38-0 at half time, scored their points through tries from Eddy Wambugu, Patrick Odongo, Clinton Amukwachi, Trevor Opondo, Nathan Tsindoli and Chris Obuya. Wambugu added six conversions and a penalty while Machine got their consolation try through Bill Jefford.
The result sees the Falcons top of the log heading into the festive season break on 15 points, one clear of second placed Impala who were 24-15 winners over Mombasa in a fixture played at the Impala Club.
The weekend’s third fixture saw Kabarak University edge Western Bulls 8-7 in Kabarak.
The KRU Championship takes a break for the festive season and resumes on 13 January.
