Another Saturday…Another round of Kenya Cup action…

Things are heating up as the league phase draws closer to an end…

Every game counts…remember there are playoff slots to compete for…

And there is the battle to retain Kenya Cup status by avoiding relegation…

Past action between Monks and Masinde Muliro

Catholic Monks and Masinde Muliro meet in the bottom of the table clash at the Catholic University. It should be an entertaining match. The Monks come into this clash off the back of a series of impressive outings.

They have certainly proven themselves to be handful for their opponents, and have even claimed an upset result, that 24-23 victory over Mwamba a couple of weeks ago. Masinde Muliro on the hand, after successive mid table finishes in 2021 and 2022, have failed to fire into life this, and remain winless six matches into the season. They find themselves between a rock and a hard place.

Two times that are quietly going about their business, Kenya Harlequin and Homeboyz meet at the RFUEA Ground. Quins are on a roll, heading into this game off three wins on the bounce that have lifted them to fifth, level on points with fourth placed Homeboyz.

A win for Head Coach Paul Murunga, who incidentally moved from Homeboyz to Quins will lift the quartered shirts into the top four.  Homeboyz have quietly gone about their business, putting in decent performances after a tumultuous start to the season that also saw them lose a number of players to their opponents on Saturday. If you’re on Ngong Road, make a stop at the RFUEA and enjoy this fixture.

Mean Machine recently won their first match of the season but were brought back to reality with defeat at Homeboyz. They host Nakuru at the University of Nairobi.

Nakuru were on the receiving end of a home drubbing against Kabras Sugar and will be looking for redemption against the varsity students. Both sides know the significance of the outcome of this clash in terms of retaining their league status.

Leaders KCB, fresh from the rampaging 82-10 win away to Mwamba are up against a Strathmore side that returned to winning ways with a 35-15 victory over the Catholic Monks.

On paper, this should be a tight fixture, KCB looking to extend their winning streaking to seven in a row while Strathmore aim to come away from Ruaraka with a win that should they register it, will be vital in resuscitating their playoff hopes.

Defending champions Kabras Sugar play their first home match of the calendar year 2023 when they welcome Blak Blad to Kakamega, looking to make it six wins from six while Menengai Oilers are out to bounce back from last weekend’s upset defeat to Blad when they face a wounded Mwamba side that is reeling from last weekend’s drubbing at the hands of KCB.
