The race for the sixth and final playoff slot got a lot more tighter with Top Fry Nakuru and Mwamba registering wins on match day 14.
Hosts Top Fry Nakuru landed two tries, staying sixth on the log with a 21-17 win over visiting Resolution Impala Saracens at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday.
Brian Maina landed the opener, barging over the try line with Geoff Ominde missing the conversion. Mohammed Omolo would respond for the Sarries but two Ominde penalties in between a drop goal saw the Wanyore lead the Sarries 14-3 at the break.
Robin Kiplang’at would convert Duncan Ekasi’s try to bring the score to 14-10 before the evergreen Edwins Makori went over the chalk, Ominde with the extras to see Nakuru go 21-10 up. Kiplang’at would convert Ekasi’s try but it was a tad too late, the Wanyore running away with the result.
Over at the Impala Club, Mwamba posted a 22-16 win over Blak Blad, a result that saw them stay seventh and two points behind Nakuru, making the quest for playoff qualification a lot more tighter.
Other results saw hosts Mean Machine run SportPesa Quins close, falling to a 17-15 loss at the University of Nairobi ground as KCB posted a 27-8 result over Nondescript.
Menengai Cream Homeboyz stayed third with a 34-22 win over champions Kabras Sugar as Strathmore Leos edged Western Bulls 27-24 at Madaraka.
