Former champions Top Fry Nakuru and Kenya Harlequin find themselves in unfamiliar territory three rounds into the new Kenya Cup season.
Nakuru, back to back champions in 2013 & 2014 are at the bottom of the 12 team league, having lost all their matches to date, collecting a solitary bonus point in the process.
Quins, who last won the league in 2012 are in the same predicament as Nakuru, winless in three outings, with a solitary bonus point and a better points difference that sees them currently placed 11th.
The opposite end of the log sees Kabras Sugar and champions KCB occupy the first two positions, both tied on 15 points after three straight bonus point victories. Kabras lead by virtue of a superior points difference to KCB.
Kabras were 27-3 winners over Resolution Impala Saracens while KCB beat Top Fry Nakuru 50-13.
Menengai Cream Homeboyz have quietly worked their way to third place after registering a third win on the trot, they have managed one bonus point win which takes their points tally to 13.
Menengai Oilers unbeaten record was broken this weekend at Jamhuri Park in the 25-20 loss to Homeboyz, a result that sees them drop to fourth on 11 points coming off two wins and a defeat. They are one point clear of fifth placed Resolution Impala Saracens who also succumbed to their first loss of the season this past weekend in Kakamega.
Stanbic Mwamba’s 65-22 win over visiting Kisumu sees them climb one place up the log, they currently sit in sixth position, level on 10 points with fifth placed Impala but undone by an inferior points difference.
Nondescripts and Western Bulls registered their first wins of the new campaign. Nondies overcame Blak Blad 38-23 at the Kenyatta University, a result that saw them climb to seventh on the log with 6 points.
Western Bulls undoubtedly delivered the result of the round, and in dramatic fashion, rallying from 0-19 at half time to score 21 unanswered points and claim the 21-19 win over Quins at the RFUEA, a result that lifts the Kakamega based side to eighth place with 5 points.
Kisumu’s defeat to Mwamba saw them slip one place down the log from eighth to ninth while Blak Blak are currently tenth, winless after three outings but with two losing bonus points from these fixtures.
