On a sunny Saturday 14th December afternoon, Homeboyz RFC halted Kabras’ eight-week unbeaten run handing them a 17-20 loss.
Deejayz made their intentions known on the onset after drilling in two quick penalties in the first ten minutes through Evin Asena. Kabras reduced the deficit to 6-3 as Jone Kubu drilled in three points off a penalty against Homeboyz. What followed were phases of intensity in both attack and defense from both sides, the center referee Godwin Karuga was exceptional in how he handled the match.
Homeboyz landed their first try as Maxwell Kang’eri went over the try line at the breather, Asena’s conversion bringing the scores to 13-3. In the second half, Kabras landed two converted tries Jone Kubu and Paul Abuto with Ntubeni Dukisa adding the extras. Reserve front row Abel Matanda landed a pushover try, Asena’s conversion bringing the scores to 20-17 in favour of the hosts.
An eventual forward pass from Kabras as they were in Homeboyz’ 5m denied them a try-scoring opportunity that would have handed them the lead. Kabras remain top of the log after picking up a bonus point.
