Kabras Sugar got the better of Top Fry Nakuru in Kenya Cup match day ten action at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday 6 February 2016.
Dennis Ombachi (no relation to his Mwamba and Kenya Sevens namesake) got the scoring underway, touching down to put Nakuru 5-0 up but Martin Juma replied with a penalty for a 5-3 score.
Philip Owuor extended the host’s lead with a second try but Juma kept Nakuru in touch with a second penalty, the match finely poised at 10-6 before Leslie Ochieng drilled home a penalty to give the hosts a 13-6 lead at the interval.
Kabras returned for the second half, hungry and eager to get the better of Nakuru, showing a lot more commitment and discipline, more so at the break down. They earned their reward when Anthony Ogot went over, Juma missing the conversion to bring the score to 13-11.
Martin Owila went over the chalk, Ochieng converting to see Nakuru go 20-11 up before fly half Henry Ayah’s drop goal took Nakuru 23-11 up but Kabras kept chugging away, Brian Tanga going over for a try, 23-16 at this point before Juma converted Geoffrey Messo’s to tie the game at 23-23.
Ochieng added another penalty to put Nakuru 26-23 up before Kabras conjured up ten points off Edwin Achayo’s converted try and Martin Juma’s penalty to seal the result.
