Kabras Sugar Head Coach Carlos Katywa is not a worried man even as his side prepares for Saturday’s Enterprise Cup title defense against arch foes KCB at Nairobi’s RFUEA Ground minus ten squad members.
Ephraim Oduor, Teddy Akala, Hillary Mwanjilwa, Brian Juma, George Nyambua, Hillary Odhiambo, Jeanson Musoga, Ntabeni Dukisa, Walter Okoth and Alfred Orege are away on Currie Cup duty with the Simbas but Katywa sees this as an opportunity for the remaining squad members to step up.
Speaking to KRU Media on Thursday morning, Katywa said, “It is actually a great opportunity for us to see our youngsters once more because they have been training and working since the Eric Shirley Shield semis. Indeed, about 80% of them played in last weekend’s semifinal against Oilers and this is another opportunity for them to showcase what they are made of.”
“We did it last year with the same players and have actually tried to upscale their skills and bring them to an understanding that this is an opportunity for them to prove that they also belong in the high levels of the game. It is a nice challenge for us, for the players and all round it works for both teams,” he concluded.
Saturday’s Enterprise Cup final will be a repeat of last year when Kabras defeated KCB 9-6 in a try less encounter to lift the title.
This match will kick off at 3.00pm and will be preceded by the Nationwide final at 1.00pm between Mombasa and JKUAT Cougars. The Mwamba Cup final between KCB II and Kenya Harlequin II takes place at 11.00am. Fans will pay Ksh 500 to catch the three matches will be played at the RFUEA Ground.
