Leaders and defending champions KCB defeat Top Fry Nakuru 26-13 in Saturday’s sole Kenya Cup fixture.

The bankers were slow to the boil, eventually taking the lead through Felix Ojow’s  fourth minute try from the rolling maul. Levi Amunga added the extras to see them lead 7-0 in Ruaraka.

Nakuru fullback Samuel Mwaura missed two straight-forward penalty goals in the seventh and eleventh minutes before Fred Odongo finally cut the deficit with a penalty after twenty two minutes.

Elly Mukaizi went over for KCB three minutes from half time, Darwin Mukidza converting for a 14-3 lead at the interval.

Donald Oluoch set up John Okoth for a well worked try after the restart, Nakuru threatening as they cut the deficit to 14-8. Mwaura again missed the straight-forward conversion before KCB’s Rocky Aguko kept up his fine scoring form, touching down on the hour mark with Mukidza converting for a 19-8 score.

Curtis Lilako then got KCB’s bonus point try seven minutes later, Mukidza missing the conversion.

Mwaura atoned for his misses with the boot, touching down for Nakuru seven minutes from time as the game ended 26-13 to the bankers.
