Northern Suburbs edged Ngong Warriors 11-10 in a KRU Nationwide Nairobi clash played at the Catholic University on Saturday 6 January 2024.
The two sides were tied 5-5 at the break, Suburbs going ahead through fly half Mark Githinji’s 15th minute try.
Suburbs responded with a try from prop Isaac Newton in the 29th minute.
Warriors replacement Joseph Kivuva was binned four minutes to the second half but Suburbs failed to capitalize on the extra man advantage as the game remained a sedate affair before springing into life in the final eight minutes, a frenetic eight minutes for that matter.
Kelvin Ochieng drilled home a penalty to see Suburbs go 8-5 ahead before Netwon landed his brace as Warriors led 10-8 with seconds left to play.
Warriors were penalized inside their half with time virtually up, Ochieng kicking over the penalty that secured the win for Suburbs.
Stallions 18 Swaras 3
Stallions built on a 13-0 lead at the break to defeat Swaras 18-3 at the Impala Club. The team from Kabete went ahead through Leonard Ndungu’s 21st minute penalty before Edgar Buyali touched down two minutes later for an 8-0 lead.
Ndungu then scored the Stallions second try in the 31st minute to give them a healthy lead going into the break.
Patrick Muli scored a consolation penalty for the Swaras in the 50th minute before Sylvester Oketch’s 73rd minute try for the Stallions put the match to rest.
Over in Mombasa, Mombasa II defeated Jackals 36-10 at the Khamis Secondary School.
