The final round of the Kenya Cup’s league phase takes place this weekend with seven fixtures on the cards.
Top of the table clash
Defending champions Top Fry Nakuru, currently placed second on the log welcome league leaders KCB to the Nakuru Athletic Club for what is without a doubt the match of the round. The two sides are assured of playing in the March 7 semifinals but there is still a lot to play for, most importantly who will earn the right to host the playoffs by virtue of topping the final league standings.
The playoff chase
Kabras Sugar sit fourth on the log, occupying the final playoff spot heading into this fixture. They welcome third placed Pan Africa Strathmore Leos to Kakamega for what should be another exciting encounter. It is a must win match for the sugar men if they are to feature in the March 7 playoffs.
Mwamba are also part of the playoff chasing equation, lying fifth on the table just two points behind Kabras. They host Mean Machine in the 4.00pm kick off looking to post a big win and await for the results from Kakamega.
Samson Odhiambo Memorial Cup
Resolution Impala Saracens and Total Nondies meet on Friday night at the Impala Club in a league encounter that doubles up as the Samson Odhiambo Memorial Cup in honor of Samson “Chums” Odhiambo who played for both clubs prior to his death from post-match injuries in Enterprise Cup duty for Nondies against KCB.
The dead rubbers
Blak Blad are up against Homeboyz with the already relegated Mombasa Sports Club hosting Kenya Harlequin. The results of these clashes are purely for academic purposes.
One last prayer for the Monks
Quite literally for the Catholic Monks. They welcome Western Bulls to the CUEA Grounds gunning for a win against the Bulls while praying for a Mwamba win over Mean Machine as that result could very likely see them secure Kenya Cup status for another season.
