Darwin Mukidza’s impeccable right foot booted champions KCB to the Kenya Cup semis with a 25-8 playoff win over Menengai Cream Homeboyz at the Jamhuri Park on Saturday 23 April 2016.
Mukidza opended his account with a successful goal attempt from a penalty after three minutes of play before converting Ian Indimuli’s try seven minutes later. He would add two penalties in between Haroun Lubisia’s sole successful attempt from four previous penalty goal attempts for the deejays as KCB took a 16-3 lead into the breather.
The deejays would have the bankers on the ropes but were let down by poor discipline and Mukidza’s goal kicking, the Kenya international drilling home two more penalties to take KCB’s lead to 22-3.
Felix Ojow would score from a rolling maul to cut the deficit to 22-8 but Mukidza completed a perfect lesson at kicking class, his sixth successful penalty securing the result for the bankers, setting up a semifinal date away to Resolution Impala Saracens on Saturday 30 April.
