KCB went second on the Kenya Cup log with a 27-24 win away to Mwamba at the Nairobi Railway Club on Saturday 12 November 2016.
It was the bankers who took the lead, former Kenya Sevens international Davis Chenge but Collins Injera responded for Mwamba, tying the scores at 5-5 before Edwin Salamba went over to see the banks retake the lead, 10-5 in their favor.
Greg Odhiambo would land a converted try to see Mwamba go 12-10 up before Marlin Mukolwe’s penalty saw KCB retake the lead, 13-12 in their favor.
Chenge soon landed his double,Mukolwe nailing the conversion as KCB went 20-12 ahead, a lead they held heading into the interval.
Marcus Mureithi found himself on the scorer’s sheet, landing after the restart, his converted try seeing Mwamba come to within a point of the bankers.
Michael Wanjala Waliaula added the bonus point try for KCB, Ken Moseti drilling home the conversion before Bridgen Sande Anditi landed at the corner, his effort not converted as KCB ran off with result, Mwamba picking up two bonus points for scoring four tries and losing by less than seven points.
