Mwamba made it two wins from two with a 53-26 win over Ruck It as the Women’s Kenya Cup entered match day two on Saturday 18 December 2021.
Terry Ayesa opened the scoring with a try converted by Diana Omosso before her brace moments later for a 12-0 lead.
Ruck It responded with Linet Moraa’s converted try before taking the lead through Naomi Kaikai’s try and conversion, 14-12 in favor of Ruck It with seven minutes of the half to play.
Yvonne Najuma would score and convert to give Mwamba a 19-14 lead at the interval.
Mwamba would then up the intensity in the second half, Naomi Jelegat’s converted try putting them 26-14 ahead before Evelyn Kalemera’s converted effort took them 33-14 up.
Janet Okello’s unconverted effort saw them go 38-14 up and when Najuma landed her brace, they were 43-14 ahead, in the driving seat with twenty minutes still to play.
Quick fire tries from Stacy Atieno and Najuma who grabbed her hat trick put Mwamba 53-14 ahead before Peninah Kwamboka’s unconverted effort and Edith Sally’s converted try saw the game end 53-26.
The day’s other fixture saw Yamanashi Impala Saracens make light work of Northern Suburbs with a 57-3 at the Ngong Racecourse while Topfry Nakuru were the beneficiaries of a 28-0 walkover result against Homeboyz.
