Mwamba kept their Top Six playoff dream alive with a 33-7 win over Mean Machine in the early kickoff at the RFUEA Grounds.
Kulabu labored early on,lucky not to concede from Eric Muthama’s attempted drop goal but started piling the pressure after regrouping, eventually going ahead through a seventh minute penalty try converted by Lavin Asego.
Greg Odhiambo would soon spurn a try scoring opportunity, caught in two minds and eventually shepherded into touch inches short of the try line but they soon doubled their lead when Edwin Machanje barged over, Asego converting for a 14-0 score.
Onyino Jervis would break and score for Machine, Muthama adding the extras to bring the score to 14-7 at the interval.
Machine would approach the opening moments of the second half with vigour but soon ran out of steam, falling further behind when Brad Owako touched down after a brilliant phase of play from Mwamba, Asego missing the conversion with the scores reading 19-7.
Asego would soon retrieve the ball and create space for Felix Otieno to play in Jeremy Griffins Atenya who positively obliged, going over the chalk to score, incidentally Mwamba’s bonus point try, Asego converting for a 26-7 score.
Muthama epitomized Machine’s fighting spirit, his desperation for points seeing him make futile goal attempts from a penalty and drop goal in quick succession.
Chris Asego would athletically retrieve and ground the ball, big brother Lavin converting to put Mwamba 33-7, a lead that they held to the end.
