Two sides harboring playoff and title ambitions will duel in what is undoubtedly the match of the day on Saturday 17 January 2015 at the RFUEA Grounds.
Fifth placed Mwamba and third placed KCB face off in the top bill clash at 4.00pm at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday afternoon both aiming to consolidate their push for semi final qualification. They last met in Kenya Cup on Saturday 18 January 2014, KCB just edging Mwamba 24-22 on the day.
Mwamba will look to bounce back from last weekend’s nail biting encounter against Pan Africa Strathmore Leos, a match in which they let slip a 22-3 lead, succumbing to a 23-22 loss to the Leos, a result that saw them drop to fifth, swapping places with newly promoted Kabras Sugar .
They couldn’t have asked for a better fixture to bounce back as a positive result against the bankers would be huge for Kulabu in terms of confidence and impetus as the jostling for semi final qualification intensifies.
KCB lie third with seven wins from seven matches but with fewer bonus points than leaders Top Fry Nakuru and second placed Pan Africa Strathmore Leos. They were stretched by Total Nondies, eventually running off with a 24-10 bonus point win.
The clash against Mwamba is the first of several stern tests for the bankers and how they get out of it should set the tone for a final push towards championship contention.
Matches between these two sides are never short of drama and excitement and have in the past few years registered close results and Saturday’s encounter is expected to be no different.
Kick off 4.00pm
