Kabras Sugar and KCB head into Saturday’s Enterprise Cup final against the backdrop of player unavailability.
Both sides have players in the Simbas squad that departs this Friday to play in the Currie Cup.
KCB will be without Thomas Okidia, Griffin Musila, Elvis Olukusi, Samuel Asati, Brian Wahinya and Peter Kilonzo but the team’s forwards coach Dennis Mwanja sees no problem with this.
Speaking to KRU Media on Thursday evening, the former international forward said, “With the absence of some players in the team, it presents an opportunity for other players who are equal to the task to rise up the occasion to play.”
“ At KCB we pride ourselves in giving opportunities to every player that walks in and proves themselves. Throughout the season we have had the capability to field any player, but now that the players have been taken to the national team, those who are available and good enough will step up to the plate and play. It is an exciting time, it is a time to show our depth. We have the depth, we have the players and we are looking at the future. We are looking building for the upcoming assignments. It is a great time and we are excited about it.”
Saturday’s Enterprise Cup final will be a repeat of last year when Kabras defeated KCB 9-6 in a tryless encounter to lift the title.
This match will kick off at 3.00pm and will be preceded by the Nationwide final at 1.00pm between Mombasa and JKUAT Cougars. The Mwamba Cup final between KCB II and Kenya Harlequin II takes place at 11.00am. Fans will pay Ksh 500 to catch the three matches will be played at the RFUEA Ground.
