Ninth placed Nondescripts are at home to eighth Strathmore Leos in the early kick off at the Jamhuri Park on Saturday 28 January 2017. It will be an emotional affair as the first leg fixture as the memory of departed Nondescript center Ogeto Gecheo who passed away a few days after the first leg fixture in December lingers on.
Back to matters on the pitch, Nondescripts were on the receiving end of a 43-10 first leg mauling by the Leos on Saturday 3 December and come into this fixture looking to claim victory over the Leos.
The hosts were feisty in the 38-22 loss to SportPesa Quins, putting up dogged resistance but running out of steam in the final quarter. Christian Josiah’s side will need to put up an 80 minute performance if they are to secure the result. They certainly do have the manpower and a potentially exciting backline that will be marshaled by Fielden Sinei and featuring the likes of young Benjamin Marshall in midfield as well as former Kenya Sevens internationals Dennis Ombachi and Biko Adema.
The Leos must bounce back from last weekend’s 23-7 loss away to Blak Blad. There is no hiding place for Mitch Ocholla’s young charges who were severely hit by the exit of close to 15 players upon completion of their studies at the Strathmore University. They still do have players in the mould of Gabriel Adero, Alex Olaba, Churchill Ooko, Kanyiri Kariuki, Michael Gitau and the experience and wisdom of Simbas captain Brian Nyikuli to steer the side to take the game to their hosts.
