Kabras Sugar, Mwamba and Resolution Impala Saracens remain in contention for the final semifinal playoff spot when they all engage in match day 13 action at various venues.
Kabras Sugar are at home to Pan Africa Strathmore Leos, well aware of the value of winning at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday. A win of any sort sees fourth placed Kabras through to the playoffs, even more interesting is the fact that they could even overhaul Strathmore into third place.
The Leos head to Kakamega off two straight losses to KCB and Top Fry Nakuru. Head Coach Mitch Ocholla spoke to kenyacup.com last weekend and stressed the need to compete mentally and physically heading into the playoffs. They will certainly be out to compete and beat Kabras, setting up the impetus for a strong playoff showing.
Mwamba lie fifth on the log, just two points adrift of Kabras Sugar. They play away to Mean Machine in a seemingly straightforward fixture that barring an upset of David against Goliath proportions, they are expected to win, and win big. They will also require Pan Africa Strathmore Leos to beat Kabras Sugar. This sequence of results, should it materialize, will see Strath complete the regular season in third place with Mwamba sneaking into the playoffs by virtue of claiming fourth place.
Resolution Impala Saracens are in action tonight against Total Nondies. They too are in with a chance, albeit slim, of playing in the post league phase. They will be required to register a bonus point win over Nondies and revert to prayer, counting on Strathmore to beat and deny Kabras a bonus point of any sort and Machine to pull a fast one on Mwamba.
This is what it boils down to in the quest for playoff qualification on match day 13, it’s not cast in stone though, things could change….
