Kenya Harlequin claimed third place in the 2015/16 Kenya Cup with a 36-29 over outgoing champions KCB.
William Mawira opened Quins account with an unconverted try but Frank Mwita restored parity for the bankers, Darwin Mukidza converting to put KCB 7-5 up.
Mukidza would score and convert his own to put KCB 14-5 up before Peter Kilonzo added a third try, KCB leading 19-5 at this point.
David Ambunya handed Quins a lifeline, touching down with Kevin Keegan converting to bring the score to 19-12 at the interval.
A Keegan penalty after the restart brought Quins to within four points of KCB before George Asin’s converted try saw the bankers go 26-15 up. The game looked all over when Mukidza added a penalty for a 29-15 score but Quins fought back, Mawira landing his brace, Keegan converting to bring the score to 29-22 before Petro Misango’s converted effort leveled the scores.
Mawira would land his hat trick, the converted try sealing the win for Quins.
