Leaders SportPesa Quins face a relatively straightforward fixture away to Blak Blad on Kenya Cup match day six. Quins are the only team with a 100% record, sitting pretty atop the log with 24 points off five outings while Blad are tenth on the twelve team log with 5 points coming off that solitary bonus point 27-22 win away to the Strathmore Leos on match day four.
Quins have been impressive five weeks into the Kenya Cup, displaying clinical efficiency as evidenced in last weekend’s 28-10 domination of bitter rivals Resolution Impala Saracens in the Ngong Road. It is therefore no surprise that they sit top of the table.
Former Ugandan international Dennis Mugambi is enjoying himself in the front row alongside former Kenya U19 international Frank Khalwale with the midfield couple of Patrice Agunda and David Ambunya reliving the heady days when their partnership steered the quartered shirts to the 2010 title. They will be called upon to steer Quins against a side they beat 47-8 on match day one at the RFUEA.
Blak Blad have been that feisty, difficult to handle opponent, the score line on several occasions betraying the fight in their performances to date. Franz Obudo, a close season signing from lower league side Brumbies, Levy Amunga, Steven Odhiambo and Mark Ongayo have been critical to the varsity students’ performances to date and will once again be called upon when they tackle Quins at the Kenyatta University ground.
This match kicks off at 4.00pm.
