A tense final, an electric atmosphere, a close result, a successful title defense.
Kabras Sugar are the champions of Kenya Cup for a third time.
The 19-9 result over their arch nemesis KCB sent the capacity crowd at the Kakamega Showground into a frenzy, the fans ecstatic, excited even as the sugarmen final broke their finals hoodoo against the bankers to win the grand prize of Kenyan club rugby.
This game was an arm wrestle from the onset, Kabras Sugar eventually breaking the deadlock through the assured boot of Ntabeni Dukisa, his penalty giving the hosts a 3-0 lead.
They would have to endure endless pressure from the bankers, and Johnstone Olindi’s knock on in the try box, but held firm to go into the interval leading 3-0.
Another Dukisa penalty at the start of the second half saw Kabras go 6-0 up, and before Dukisa and KCB’s Darwin Mukidza traded penalties for 9-3. Two more Mukidza penalties brought the score to 9-9.
Game on at this point, until repeated infringements saw Kabras awarded a penalty try before Dukisa drilled home a penalty to secure the result that sent the crowd in Kakamega into delirium.
