Resolution Impala Saracens posted a 37-22 win over a spirited Nondescripts in Kenya Cup match day one action at the Impala Club, retaining the Samson Odhiambo Memorial Cup in the process.
The hosts had to endure a feisty opening from Nondies, soaking in the pressure and eventually touching down through Eric Kerre. Quinto Ongo and Nondies’ Fielden Sinei would trade penalties as the Sarries stayed 8-3 up. Ongo then converted Joel Omer’s try for a 15-3 lead at the interval.
It was soon 20-3 after Mark Kwemoi’s unconverted effort but Nondies clawed back into the match, tries from Ced Odera and Simon Ngugi in between Sinei’s conversion saw them come to within five points of the hosts who raised the game’s intensity a notch higher, adding another three off Ongo’s boot before converting George Okowa’s try to put daylight between the Sarries and Nondies.
Duncan Ekasi’s converted try put the issue beyond doubt as Nondies landed a converted consolation try for the full time result.
