Last seasons runners up Heathens, succumbed to a 6-5 loss to determined Ezee Money Rhinos, losing their four match unbeaten run at Legends Rugby Grounds on Saturday.
Heathens had just endured a 10-10 draw with Sadolin Mongers in the outing before at Entebbe and little did the side know they were heading for misfortune.
Heathens survived Pirates who secured and maintained the lead until the dying minutes but the Rhinos who were at home held on to sail back to their winning ways.
The match unfolded in a soggy and waterlogged field following the early downpour and Rhinos impressed with good scrummaging and tackles in the first half.
Coach John Musoke (Heathens area of strength this season) tactically blocked the wings perfectly and patiently let his side haunt the visitors in mauls and rucks until the side won the kicks for Kevin Makmot.
He broke the deadlock in the first half with a penalty for the home side, that he kicked through the uprights for the lead into half time.
Heathens needed an immediate response in the second half despite the after-ruck handling errors and when Faisal and Allan Otim came in, the outfit finally edged Rhinos for a scrum a jump-strides distance away from the try line.
Asuman Mugerwa turned out as the man to thank, following close to five penalty scrums that aided the visitors to cross the try past a resilient Rhinos back-line. Heathens should have extended the lead but Chris Opa kicked extremely wide of the posts.
Kevin Makmot sealed Rhinos win with another penalty he kicked through to make 6 after infringement a few meters from the center.
Heathens tried to turn rampant as they piled pressure but Rhinos produced a try saving tackle around the flooded right corner flag area. Heathens Joel Kimuli had fans at their feet in final minute, but also kicked wide to condemn Heathens to their first loss.
