Resolution Impala Saracens have the perfect opportunity to bounce back from successive losses to Menengai Cream Homeboyz and SportPesa Quins when they welcome basement side Mean Machine to the Impala Club for Kenya Cup match day 11 action on Saturday 4 February 2017.
The 13-41 loss to Homeboyz on 21 January was followed by last weekend’s 26-36 loss to Quins in the Ngong Road derby and the onus will be upon the Sarries to curb the trend that has seen them slip to seventh on the log, although they do have a game in hand over Nakuru and Mwamba who currently occupy positions six and five.
The last Kenya Cup meeting between the two sides saw the hosts run off with the 55-10 result on Saturday 16 January 2016 and Fred Ollows charges will certainly be fired up to replicate that performance and give their playoff putsch that much needed impetus.
Mean Machine, Kenya Cup champions in 1977, 89 and 1990 started this season’s campaign with intent, restricting champions Kabras Sugar to a one point win in Kakamega. Many thought that the 14-13 loss to the sugar millers had set the tone in terms of what to expect from the varsity side but they have since floundered along the way, sitting at the league’s basement having lost all their nine outings to date.
John Mbai’s side has it’s work cut out against their hosts and will have to dig very deep to not only restrict the Sarries but leave the Impala Club with a positive showing and result.
