Match day 12 results conspired to see Resolution Impala Saracens open a five-point lead atop the Kenya Cup standings with a resolute display over Nondescripts on Saturday 20 February 2016.Their 50-9 home win over Nondescripts coupled with hitherto joint leaders’ Kenya Harlequins meek 14-43 submission to Top Fry Nakuru gives the Sarries some distance after match day 12.
Sarries George Okowa and Nondies Brian Beckham traded penalties to see the scores tied 3-3 early on. Robert Aringo landed for the Sarries, Okowa converting for a 10-3 lead before converting Nato Simiyu’s try for a 17-3 score. Beckham would add a second penalty for Nondies but the Sarries would touch down through Sammy Motari, Okowa missed the conversion as Impala took a 22-6 lead into the break.
Simiyu would land his brace after the restart, replacement Samuel Oliech converting for a 29-6 score. Kabau Muruatetu then scored a drop goal for Nondies, reducing the deficit to 29-6 but further converted tries from Ian Minjire and backrow man Joel Omer put distance between the Sarries and Nondies before Simiyu landed his hat trick, Oliech converting for the full time score.
The Sarries now have 51 points off 10 wins and 2 defeats while Nondies stay ninth, their playoff dreams increasingly appearing like a mirage.
