Kenya Harlequin are the new Mwamba Cup champions after defeating KCB 36-26 in a thrilling final at the RFUEA Ground on Saturday morning.
KCB took the lead through Gabriel Namusasi’s unconverted try but Quins refused to go away, keeping in touch with a penalty from Arnold Onzere that brought the score to 5-3
Lucky Dewald drilled home two more penalties to put Quins 9-5 up as they enjoyed possession and territory against a rather muted KCB side.
Edwin Otieno’s try and Levy Amunga’s conversion gave KCB a 12-9 lead at the break.
The second half was all action, Dominic Osino touched down with Onzere converting for a 16-12 Quins lead but Andrew Amonde’s converted try restored the lead for KCB, 19-16 as the thrills continued.
An Onzere penalty and a Brian Waraba try put Quins 26-19 ahead before Amonde went over again for KCB, Amunga converting to make it 26-26.
Onzere struck again, his penalty giving Quins the 29-26 lead before Osino went over, Onzere sure with the extras to confirm the result.
