Kabras Sugar are leading the Kenya Cup log as we head into the second of the League. They kicked off the season with the highest score after beating Kisumu RFC 89-0 at the Kakamega ASK Showgrounds last Saturday. This weekend, they head down to the Capital City to face Stanbic Mwamba who are sitting fifth on the log. Kulabu secured a 34-27 win over Kenyatta University’s Blakblad at the University’s pitch on week one of the Kenya Cup. The last time Kabras and Mwamba met was in last season’s final in Kakamega where Kabras progressed to the final off a hard earned 23-11 win.
At the RFUEA Grounds, Kenya Harlequins will be seeking to get their first win of the season against the defending Champions, KCB. Quins suffered a 13-26 loss to Menengai Cream Homeboyz at the Jamhuri Showgrounds last weekend, a performance that sees them in the ninth position on the Kenya Cup log. KCB’s 48-11 win over Western Bulls places them second. In their last meeting in the 2018/2019, KCB were unstoppable in the semifinal at the Lions’ den where they beat Quins 46-13 to advance to the final.
The third match in Nairobi pits Resolution Impala Saracens against Blakblad RC. Judging from previous encounters, despite the losses, Blakblad have never made it easy for the Sarries when they meet in the first few weeks of the season. Top Fry Nakuru prepare to host the Menengai Cream Homeboyz RFC at the Nakuru Athletics Club while Western Bulls and Kisumu welcome Menengai Oilers and Nondies respectively.
