Northern Suburbs Cubs, on their maiden season in Kenya Rugby’s second-tier league, the KRU Championship are on course to finishing in the top six, a performance that confirms their playoff spot. Cubs beat the South Cost Pirates 41-12, a performance that boosts them from seventh place to sixth on the Championship log.
Below them is the Nakuru County based Egerton Wasps who suffered a 10-21 loss in the hands of the now eighth-placed Eldoret RFC.
Strathmore Leos and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology have already confirmed their direct home semifinal qualification with one game of the regular season left. The Leos’ registered a massive 79-12 win over Mombasa RFC today while MMUST beat Kisii RFC 38-5 securing their first and second positions on the log respectively.
The gap between MMUST and third-placed Mean Machine is 14 points as the latter have collected a total of 49 points this far after beating Monks 28-3 on week 15 of the regular season.
The other match in the league saw USIU beat the University of Eldoret 40-22.
