The University of Eldoret is set to host the doubleheader on week nine of the KRU Championship as hosts UOE Trojans take on Strathmore Leos while Eldoret RFC meets Catholic Monks.
The Trojans who dropped to tenth place after last weekend’s 9-33 loss to the Mean Machine will play Strathmore Leos in the opening match at 1:00 pm. Strathmore Leos have been having successful outings weekend in weekend out securing eight out of eight wins. They sit comfortably at the top of the log with an eight-point gap between them and second-placed Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
The second fixture at this venue pits Eldoret RFC against Catholic Monks at exactly 3:00 pm. Eldoret dropped to ninth place last weekend as a result of other teams’ match outcomes while they postponed their match day eight fixture to 2020. Monks narrow 20-19 win over Egerton Wasps pushed them up to sixth on the log.
In Kakamega, MMUST welcomes Coast-based South Coast Pirates to their backyard at 3:00 pm. MMUST has only suffered one loss so far in this league and that was in the hands of Strathmore Leos who are keen to make a return to the top tier league.
Fourth-placed Northern Suburbs head to Kisii this weekend in search of their fifth win of the season as they meet twelve-placed Kisii RFC at Gusii. This fixture is also expected to start at 3:00 pm.
The last two fixtures, USIU vs Mombasa and Egerton vs Mean Machine have been postponed to a later date.
