Defending Kenya Cup Champions KCB started off their 2017/2018 campaign with a 27-0 win over ‘hosts’ Strathmore Leos. Thirty minutes into the match, KCB drew first blood as winger Collins Wanjala went over the whitewash giving KCB a five point lead. Flyhalf Elphas missed the extras. A Strathmore infringement in their 22 saw KCB boot in three points off the resultant penalty. Score remained 8-0 to the bankers at the stroke of half time.
Wanjala would get his brace in the second half with the conversion sailing wide. Reserve winger Arthur Owira landed two centre post tries in a span of seven minutes with Ken Moseti converting both. KCB held on to this scoreline to the last minute.
The Kenya Cup match day two will see KCB travel to Kisii as Strathmore heads out to Kakamega to meet Kabras RFC.
