Saturday 18 February sees two regions play host to four fixtures in the KRU Championship. Two of these fixtures take place in Kiambu County, specifically Thika and Juja which are 13.1km apart while the other two take place in Ukunda and Mombasa, 31.1km apart down on the Kenyan coast.
Heading into matters rugby, eighth placed Thika are at home to ninth placed Moi University Arsonists, both sides keen on bouncing back from last weekend’s losses that saw them entrenched in the league’s lower reaches. The second clash pits basement side JKUAT Cougars taking on third placed USIU who will make the 24.74 kilometer trip to Juja in a quest to sustain the pressure on the leading pack of Resolution Kisii and the Catholic Monks.
Leaders in the championship region Resolution Kisii RFC make the 792.1km journey down to Mombasa, and precisely the Mombasa Sports Club where they take on hosts and 1997 Enterprise Cup winners Mombasa RFC who were relegated from the Kenya Cup at the close of the 2014/15 campaign.
Kisii have been in perfect form so far registering nine wins and one loss and will be out to stay top against their opponents who sit sixth on the log. The gritty South Coast Pirates, currently fourth on the log, will be up against fifth placed Kisumu in Ukunda.
